MAINE, 2009 A most September July vacation With temperatures barely breaking 70 and wind gusts creating white caps on the lake, yes, it was a most September July vacation this year in Maine. Of course, that wasn't the case every day. Sunday had an afternoon that seemed a little more July-like. As did, Friday afternoon. A few nights it rained. And Wednesday or Thursday afternoon it rained for about 15 minutes. A few overcast mornings, the lake was almost mirror-like in it's stillness. And that would change by noon. Yes, the lake did not let us down in it's ever-changing scenarios. But overall, the week was not July. Like last year, I gave myself an assignment for my vacation diaries. I had planned to draw the cabin and it's surroundings with my cats. Maybe a little more Salvadore Dali than B.Kliban, I stuck our cats (all the cats MJ and I have had over the years) on the dock, by the porch, near the clothes line, in the lake.
