This portrait followed my "Winter" piece of Emily Dickinson in my "Seasons Series" (inspired by the poems of the Belle of Amherst). Similar to her predecessor, I took a somewhat surreal take on the imagery and composition of this piece --more so, I feel, than the two that followed.

As I often do with my work-in-progress, I shared this piece in it's very early stages on my daily blog, where a writer-friend said she was "not object to me portraying Emily naked but she felt she wanted to wrap a shawl around her to protect her." I complied.
