Shortly after the passing of American author, poet and social critic, Kurt Vonnegut, I read a Wikipedia entry detailing how the Allied Forces fire bombing of the city of Dresden, Germany was the inspiration for Vonnegut's book: Slaughterhouse Five.

All these things were the inspiration for this illustration.
