Let me preface this MAINE DIARY entry with a couple of thoughts:
Why do aging WHITE MALE Hollywood stars all eventually become "BAD GUYS"? Does Hollywood perpetuate the concept that ALL old white guys are EVIL? Or is this just "Art imitating Life"? For example, Gene Hackman, Donald Sutherland and Christopher Walken. All "Bad Guys" now regardless of past roles.....

Next thought. Why do folks take the laptop on vacation? Or some files from the office --to organize and purge? Or otherwise take some "work" with them while on vacation? Isn't the definition of VACATION contrary to this?

With those two thoughts in mind, I give you

entry no.3

Why Walken? I don't really know! This was my first and LAST attempt at actually pretendin' I had some sorta agenda while on my vacation... Like I had "these assignments".... like I had to actually accomplish "these goals".... like this was some sorta "work vacation"!!!

Oh sure, in the past.... while in Dublin and Grenada for example, I did manage to knock-out some pages for that illustrated Dylan song assignment. So, that must have been where I was comin' from.

And so this particular mornin' over mornin' coffee before the mornin' canoe ride, I find these photo-source printouts of Christopher Walken circa THE DEER HUNTER, in my art bag amongst issues of ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY and lyric printouts from OLGA. (I was going to do this "military tribute" using THE DEER HUNTER as a theme.)

And that's "Why Walken".....

Leave a on WHY Walken would not be YOUR breakfast choice, HOW "assignments" are assinine and HOW you're lookin' forward to see HOW I "walk away from Walken" in the next post.....

ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATION
As with almost ALL the Maine Diary 2004 sketch/illos, this too was done with a NESTLER Techliner 02. And the paper is 20# Bond paper -- laser printer paper. And the Photoshop work here is the ol' color line, flat color approach I so enjoy (it's fast!)....
